DESCRIPTION :

A mountain hotel next to the renowned Faqra Ruins.
The challenge was to reduce this big building impact, and help it blend into its environment with an architecture uniquely adapted to it.
The massive stone masonry walls help the building meld into the rocky landscapes of Faqra.
The project adopts low maintenance heavy duty materials like stone, concrete and copper.
Stone and concrete are locally sourced, which reduces the building's carbon footprint.

The blade-like sleek white concrete balconies emerging in between the massive stone walls are creating a floating feel in contrast with the rooted aspect of the walls.

The alternation between opacity and transparency, weight and lightness, between the stone walls and the glazed bays, create a feel of protection while letting in plenty of natural light and connecting the indoors with the beauty of the outdoors.

DESCRIPTION  ​

Un hôtel de montagne à côté des célèbres Ruines de Faqra. Le défi était de réduire l'impact de ce grand bâtiment et de l'aider à s'intégrer dans son environnement avec une architecture parfaitement adaptée. Les imposants murs en maçonnerie de pierre aident le bâtiment à se fondre dans les paysages rocheux de Faqra. Le projet adopte des matériaux robustes et peu exigeants en entretien comme la pierre, le béton et le cuivre. La pierre et le béton sont d'origine locale, ce qui réduit l'empreinte carbone du bâtiment.

Les balcons en béton blanc, ressemblant à des lames, qui émergent entre les murs massifs de pierre créent une sensation de flottement en contraste avec l'aspect ancré des murs.

L'alternance entre opacité et transparence, poids et légèreté, entre les murs de pierre et les baies vitrées, crée une impression de protection tout en laissant entrer une abondante lumière naturelle et en reliant l'intérieur à la beauté de l'extérieur.
